An evening of carols and readings raises £1,000 for the Manx MSA Trust
Post on 30th January 2018

A large choir with soloists Ruth Tickle, Jane Mayne and Timothy Riley accompanied by Gareth Moore raised £1,000 for local charity, the Manx MSA Trust at an Evening of Carols and Readings held at St. Matthew's Church, Douglas on 28th December.

The annual event, organised and conducted by John Riley, saw a 60-strong choir perform to an audience of over one hundred, with some traditional Christmas carols and reading as well as excerpts from Part One of the Messiah.

Afterwards mulled wine, mince pies and cakes were served in the church hall.

Niall Carey, Head of Communications for the charity, commented, "A huge thanks to John and his fantastic choir for a wonderful evening and for supporting the Manx MSA Trust. All funds raised go towards the main objectives of the charity to provide a hub for Manx MSA patients and their families, to raise awareness of the illness and to help fund research to find an earlier diagnosis through a simple blood test".
